April 2020 Newsletter
Hasn’t the world changed a lot since I last emailed you? I do wish you and your family the best of health in the current situation and trust you are safe and well. I would like to applaud the amazing work that our frontline health care professionals, teachers, grocery store workers and delivery drivers (amongst others) are doing through these uncertain times. I really hope this will bring us closer together as a community when we eventually get out the other side.
I feel extremely fortunate that it’s still business as usual for Other Music, especially in light of many businesses having to close or hibernate temporarily. I certainly don’t take this for granted and really appreciate the support of customers and suppliers to enable this to continue. Obviously, I will continue to follow government directives that apply and will keep you up to date with any changes I need to make, if or when they occur.
On a positive note, I’ve put together some suggestions and specials for those who are looking to music at this uncertain time. I also have exciting news about new products and payment options so please feel free to share this information with anyone you know who might be interested.
As always, feel free to contact us for any inquiries or questions. We’re here to help!

Learn a new instrument at home
Have you always wanted to learn guitar but never had the time? What about drums, piano, ukulele? We’re seeing some great stories of people at home getting back into playing or trying a new instrument. Here’s a great range of books that can help you get started.
The First 15 Lessons series provides a step-by-step lesson plan for the absolute beginner, complete with audio tracks, video lessons, and real songs! Designed for self-teaching or for use with an instructor, you’ll build a solid foundation as you work through each lesson, learning the basics of the instrument and music reading while practising the many exercises, concepts and song excerpts within.
You might need a new instrument to get started with. Here’s some suggestions:

The Best Practice Mutes Around!
Now, more than ever, brass players need to have a practice mute that allows them to play, without disturbing the rest of the household! The world-renowned Sshh mute does exactly that! Great value too. Click on the button to see what’s available.
FREE Freight Australia Wide
In conjunction with some of the Australian music products importers, we are offering special pricing, including FREE FREIGHT on a selected range of products. Why not give your guitar a “birthday” with a maintenance kit or new strings? Or treat yourself to some new percussion instruments, strings for your violin/viola/cello or reeds for your clarinet/sax. There’s a heap of goodies so click on the button to see what’s there. Available until the end of May while stocks last.
Pub Choir becomes Couch Choir
At the end of each newsletter, I normally like to share my latest musical performance adventure but they have obviously been put on hold for the moment. We did manage to have one weekend of sold-out Mamma Mia shows which was incredible – watch this space for news of when the season will be finished!
For those that know me, know that I love singing in a big group of people (solo isn’t normally my thing) so have really enjoyed going to Pub Choir over the last few months. Not to be deterred by the current situation, the amazing Pub Choir crew came up with Couch Choir instead. It was so much fun!! Click here to see how it all came together.
This is a pic from my first couch choir entry – complete with a pub approved plastic wine glass! It really got me out of the funk I fell into when all my performances and rehearsals and all of Andrew’s gigs were cancelled.
Last night I submitted the second one. We sang David Bowie’s Heroes and I can’t wait to hear how it all comes together.
